Manage all your meter reading methods
Meter reading is a strategic activity for water and wastewater utilities. It drives billing, leak detection, and network knowledge. G-ordon offers a water meter reading software capable of managing all three reading methods on a single platform.
Manual reading
The reading agent enters the index directly from the G-ordon mobile application. The interface displays the last known index, the average consumption of the metering point, and alert thresholds. If the entered index is inconsistent (lower than the previous reading, abnormally high or zero consumption), the system immediately alerts the agent, who can verify on site and add a comment or photo.
Radio reading (WM-Bus)
G-ordon interfaces with WM-Bus radio reading equipment. The agent covers their route with a radio reading terminal that captures indexes from meters equipped with wireless transmitters. Data is automatically injected into G-ordon and associated with the correct metering point. This method considerably speeds up routes by eliminating manual entry and physical access to the meter.
Remote reading (automatic reading)
For meter fleets equipped with communicating meters, G-ordon integrates remote reading data transmitted automatically by concentrators. Indexes are received daily or at the configured frequency, without any human intervention. G-ordon interfaces notably with Topkapi systems for remote reading data collection.
Anomaly detection
Regardless of the reading method, G-ordon applies automatic validation rules to each received index:
- Reversed index: the index is lower than the previous reading, indicating a possible unregistered meter replacement or an error.
- Abnormally high consumption: potential leak indicator on the subscriber’s private network.
- Zero consumption: potentially unoccupied housing or faulty meter.
Anomalies are flagged and feed verification lists for the technical teams.
Reading campaign management
G-ordon organizes readings into campaigns: geographic segmentation, sector assignment to agents, progress tracking, management of unread meters. The manager has a real-time progress dashboard.
Route optimization and billing export
Reading routes are geographically optimized to minimize travel. At campaign closure, validated indexes are exported to the billing system in the expected format.
